Privacy policy
This policy explains what information SafeKit collects, why we collect it, and — because SafeKit is a zero-knowledge vault — what we structurally cannot see no matter what.
1. Information we collect
SafeKit is designed to collect as little personal information as possible.
The app primarily stores your passwords, notes, and other data on your own device.
We do not collect your data or encryption keys.
2. Your data
The passwords, notes, and data you store in SafeKit are encrypted and decrypted entirely on your own device. Nothing reaches our servers as we don't have a server.
Because of this design:
- We cannot read your passwords, notes, or payment cards.
- We cannot recover or reset your master password.
- If you permanently lose your master password and recovery methods, we cannot decrypt your data.
3. Local-First Design
SafeKit is designed to work locally. Most features including viewing, editing, generating, and organizing passwords, operate entirely on your device without requiring an internet connection.
Internet access is only required for services such as:
- Subscription verificaiton
- Play Store and App Store services
- Synchronize passwords between your devices (Local network only)
Using the app locally does not require us to continuously receive information about your activity.
4. How we use information
We do not require user accounts and do not collect personal or technical information from your device. Platform providers such as Apple or Google may collect limited device or usage information in accordance with their own privacy policies. Any data processed by our app is encrypted to help protect your privacy and security.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the service to you, this would not be technically possible because we are not collecting any data.
5. Sharing of information
We do not share your personal information. However, Apple and Google may collect certain device or usage information when you download or use our app, in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
6. Data retention
We do not require user accounts and therefore do not retain account information. All of your passwords are stored locally on your device. If you uninstall or delete the app, your stored passwords will be permanently removed. We strongly recommend creating regular backups so you can restore your data if needed.
Payment records may be retained for the period required by applicable tax or accounting laws used in Google Play or Apple AppStore accordingly.
7. Your rights and choices
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can manage most of this directly from your settings, or by contacting Google / Apple for payment inquiries. For help you can contact us using the details at the bottom.
8. Cookies and analytics
The SafeKit app itself does not use advertising trackers. Our marketing website uses a small number of cookies to remember your preferences and to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.
8. Children's privacy
SafeKit is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the app before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
